Zoo Events Group are on the hunt for a General Maintenance Manager who is practical, forward thinking and multi-skilled to join our exciting events team. We specialise in the events industry providing luxury washrooms and glamping accommodation to many prestigious events and festivals all over the UK including Glastonbury, Cheltenham races and Goodwood Festival of Speed to name a few.

As the backbone of the company you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of maintenance to all equipment. This will include maximising availability of products whilst managing inventory of repair equipment and supplies. You will ensure the department operates in an affordable, efficient and safe manner complying with statutory and company Health and Safety regulations. Day to day duties will include carpentry and basic plumbing. There will also be occasional ad hoc duties assisting with general yard work including loading and unloading of vehicles and supervising a small team of assistants. Experience driving a forklift is required for this role.

The Maintenance Manager will have experience in carpentry and be able to identify electrical problems and carry out minor repairs. You will have the ability to learn how the equipment works and identify and implement improvements in order to improve efficiency and reliability.

Due to the fast pace, constantly changing nature of the events industry you must be able to prioritise tasks on a daily basis. You will be a strong character with a good working attitude. You will be meticulous, have great problem solving skills and be pro-active always striving for success.

Contract Type: Temporary which will become permanent for the right candidate.

Hours: 45 hours per week (including breaks) with weekend overtime available.

Location: Shrewton, Salisbury, Wiltshire. Please note this position will require a full UK driving license and own transport as the premises are in a rural location.

Salary: £22,000-£26,000 per annum.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Rigging Glamping sites within a team

• Furnishing the structures to their specification with various packages

• Attending events and festivals, front of house staff, exchanging money and authorising tickets

• Providing a concierge service to guests and checking them in

• Loading/unloading vehicles

• Team leading and managing small teams

Qualifications and Skills

  • Good time keeping and practically minded
  • Happy to work weekends and overtime
  • Good level of fitness
  • UK driving licence and own transport as the premises is in a rural location

 

Desirable Skills (not essential but very beneficial):

  • Qualifications or experience in event management or hospitality
  • Lorry or towing licenses (C1, C1+E, B+E)
  • Forklift licence or experience

We are seeking a talented chef to travel with our site crews during the summer months, cooking exciting and nutritious meals for them. Team sizes can vary from 10 people to over 40, depending on the festival. Chefs are responsible for daily local shopping, menu planning, cooking three meals a day and maintaining high levels of food hygiene in the kitchen tent.

Hours and Contract

  • Work is available from May to September 2019
  • Hours can vary per week but will consist of weekend work and working bank holidays
  • The position is temporary. Start and end dates can be discussed with us
  • Salary is based on an ad-hoc freelance salary
  • Chefs will cater for crew on set up and breakdown days. No food is provided during the live event.
  • Reporting to Site Manager, Operations Manager and Director of Operations
  • Our HQ is in Wiltshire but job sites are located across the UK. All applicants must hold a valid driving licence and own vehicle is preferred. A mileage allowance is provided.

Job Role

  • Set up (and de-rig) kitchen tent and organise equipment
  • Buy groceries and supplies from local supermarkets
  • Plan and prepare 3 meals a day for the site crew, catering for dietary requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen area, including the washing up
  • Manage recycling within crew camp
  • Follow health & safety procedures and complete daily HACCP paperwork

Working Environment

  • You will be living in crew camp and need to provide your own tent, bedding and waterproofs
  • You will need to be comfortable working alone and managing your day effectively
  • Water points may be a distance away and it is your responsibility to ensure you have enough water for the day ahead
  • Refrigeration is limited and menus need to be designed to be minimum waste as rubbish collections may be ad hoc

Skills Required

  • Budget management
  • Experience of completion of daily HACCP and administrative paperwork
  • Experience of menu planning and compiling shopping lists in accordance with daily budgets
  • A passion for cooking fun, nutritious food and the ability to cook a range of different dishes, catering for dietary requirements
  • Time management skills to organise your day efficiently and deliver meals to agreed times (may change daily)
  • Calm and flexible under pressure and changing working conditions (every field is different!)
  • A full UK driving licence
  • You must prove that you have the legal right to work in the UK and, if haven’t done so already, register as self-employed. We can provide advice on how to do this.
